We, the staff at Cosmetic Elegance Clinic, would like to extend a warm welcome to you. Our intention is to provide you, your family and friends with skin care that is uncompromising in its professionalism and quality, in a comfortable and personal environment.
We are serious about skin care, have a passion for our treatments and love what we do. We will provide you with the best possible treatments with the best possible outcomes. As good listeners, we will endeavour to answer all your questions on any aspect of your treatment and give you a specialised and satisfying service.
As our most valuable resource, Cosmetic Elegance Clinic invests in their staff. Personal development is encouraged and in-house and external training programs are provided on a continual basis to ensure that our staff are kept up to date with the latest trends, techniques and clinical standards. Dr Albert Vermeulen
Clinical Lead & Skin Cancer Doctor, MBChB, FRACGP
Dr Vermeulen has had a special interest in skin cancer for many years & has worked in cosmetic medicine in Armidale. He trained in South Africa and has done numerous post graduate training courses. His enthusiasm, diagnostics & surgical skills are excellent and will enhance the services that Cosmetic Elegance Clinic can give to patients.
He qualified as a GP 1999 in South Africa and emigrated to Australia in 2004, starting out in Roma. He then moved to Tamworth (worked in Armidale). Dr Vermeulen went on to do his Skin Cancer training in 2007 with a Certificate in Primary Skin Cancer and Skin Cancer Management. He has been practising Skin Cancer medicine for 10 years. In 2017 Dr Vermeulen moved to Toowoomba where he began work with Cosmetic Elegance Clinic full time.
Krystal Thompson
Practice Manager
Krystal is an experienced people-leader and Practice Manager from Dubbo NSW. Krystal moved to Toowoomba in 2019, to which she worked across the healthcare industry (predominantly dental) for 15 + years in both clinical, including dental nursing and operational roles for Toowoomba, SE QLD and New Zealand. Most recently, Krystal has held senior operations roles in the NDIS sector and is excited to return to her passion as a Practice Manager in healthcare.
Dr Ryan Rad
Skin Cancer Doctor
MBBS, FRACGP
Dr Ryan Rad is a highly trained skin cancer doctor with extensive experience in diagnosing and treating skin cancer. He takes a patient-centred approach, ensuring every individual feels at ease with his warm and approachable manner.
Dr Rad offers flexible appointment times throughout the week and provides a comprehensive range of treatment options, including skin cancer removal and advanced skin repair using flaps or grafts.

Dr Michael Kazlauskas
Dr Michael Kazlauskas graduated from the University of Queensland in 2011. He has extensive experience diagnosing and treating skin cancer in hospital, GP clinics and skin cancer clinics. He is passionate about all aspects of skin cancer medicine, including:
- Skin protection and cancer prevention
- Early detection of skin cancer and precancerous lesions
- Best practice skin cancer treatment, ensuring effective cancer treatment and the best possible cosmetic outcomes.
Sophie Bourne

Sophie has completed her Diploma of Beauty Therapy and attained her Laser License for Permanent Hair Reduction. Sophie completed her Bachelor of Nursing degree in 2025 and her interests and passion have expanded into “all things” beauty, with becoming a Cosmetic Nurse as her end goal.
Sophie firmly believes that an individual’s concerns, no matter how big or small, can be detrimental to their health and wellbeing. Her ultimate goal is to help everyone look and feel their best. To achieve this, she offers a range of services that include skin health, permanent hair reduction, and body contouring. With these services, Sophie can assist with a multitude of concerns, including acne, rosacea, melasma, pigmentation, aging, unwanted hair, and unwanted fat.
Sophie is excited to help real people with real concerns achieve real results. By offering a variety of beauty services, she hopes to make a positive impact on her clients’ lives and help them feel confident and happy in their own skin.

Carmen is a highly experienced and dedicated Registered Nurse. Her expertise includes assisting with skin cancer surgeries and helping individuals navigate the complexities of their diagnosis and treatment options and runs our Total Body Photography clinic. Carmen’s passion is ensuring that patients feel informed, comfortable, and supported every step of the way.
Amorei Basson (Vermeulen)

I have been a registered nurse for a little over 2 years, having worked in general practice and then moving into the cosmetic field. I have always been interested in what can be done to help enhance client’s natural beauty and I am excited for the opportunity to join Cosmetic Elegance, as their reputation as a leading Skin Cancer and Cosmetic Centre is renown is this region.
Growing up in a family that was always sunsmart, I have also become interested in skin cancer procedures. I enjoy assisting the doctors with procedures and learning about our skin and how important it is that we look after it.
I was born in South Africa but have spent most of my life in Australia. I have been in Toowoomba for 8 years and enjoy spending time with my husband and our 2 fur babies who are the light of our lives.
We like to take the dogs for an exploration and a dip on my parents property as they both have a lot of energy to burn and are very fond of water!

Katelyn joined us as a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse. With a background in both nursing and cosmetic aesthetics, she brings a blend of medical expertise and artistic vision to her work, understanding facial anatomy and a keen eye for detail, she also offers anti-wrinkle & dermal fillers treatments delivering results that enhance her clients’ natural features while ensuring their comfort and safety throughout every procedure.

Sharon’s strong background foundation in employment services, Sharon has recently transitioned into the role of medical receptionist, bringing with me a passion for people and a keen interest in cosmetic healthcare. Her experience in client support and administrative coordination has equipped me with the skills to manage busy front desk operations while maintaining a calm, welcoming presence. Sharon is particularly drawn to the cosmetic side of medicine, where confidence and care intersect, and is excited to support patients on their journey toward feeling their best. Kyla’s interest in skin cancer awareness stems from firsthand experience with sun exposure in farming life, fuelling my commitment to supporting early detection and education efforts. With a passion for healthcare and a dedication to creating a welcoming environment, I’m proud to be the first point of contact in a clinic.

Amy joins the team with previous experience working in a dermatology and skin cancer clinic. She provides compassionate, efficient, and confidential support to both patients and medical professionals. Her role as a skin cancer and beauty receptionist involves managing appointments, ensuring smooth patient and client flow, and assisting with the coordination of critical medical procedures and follow-up care.

I have been an enrolled nurse for close to 3 years, I have worked in the rural and remote setting, medical and surgical fields, before starting in the practice setting. I look forward to learning new skills in skin cancer procedures and providing the best care possible for our patients.

Jasmine has experience in administration and real estate, with a strong passion for healthcare stemming from her experience in aged care. She also has a keen interest in health and skincare, inspired by her own personal journey with acne, which has shaped her understanding of skin health.
